Buzzmarketing by Mark Hughes is such a great read and a resource to use in the church. One of the great things I like about the book is how practical it is with real experiences. I do however want to begin a
discussion if it is possible, for those who have read the book and are leaders in the church and applied the principles of creating a Buzz with your church or ministry.
Also, I want to take the Six Buttons of Buzz and rework them for the Church. Any ideas?
- The Taboo (sex, lies bathroom humor) - Perhaps for the church Authenticy not sure about this button.
- The Unusual - Presenting the Message we have differently
- The Outrageous - Not sure on this one either. Perhaps going outside the normal of Orthodox.
- The Hilarious - Humor still works in the church, I have perfected this.
- The Remarkable - The Supernatural; Presence of God! The AWE! The WOW!
- The Secrets (both kept and revealed) - The Word of God preached and the Mystery of God still sought after.
I would love to
hear you feedback and get
your opinion on what you think. I don't know about you but I like have my ideas challenged and really get outside the box, that is why I like this book so much I guess. I also like the concept of using creativity. I think sometimes I am afraid to use my
creativity inside the church because of what the traditionalist or those who are used to that approach my think.

Chris,
I am assuming that the book you are referring to is not meant for churches, but that you are talking about using some of the principles from the book to help embiggen (my favorite made up word) the cause of Christ. If this book is specifically for churches then the Taboo buzz and Outrageous buzz would make me question the author, however, I don't think this is the case.
I think it is great when people can read a book (hear a speaker, watch a documentary) and be discerning enough to take the good and leave the bad. Sounds like that is what you have done.
Chris,
Thanks for your comment replying to me. Sounds like you have a great thing going on at your church - keep up the good work.
