GOALS FOR 2011 AS A FAMILY:

2. Keep a family daily gratitude journal.
3. Lora and Chris to read two-three books together in 2011 Parenting/Marriage
4. More experiential opportunities as a family. We need to take advantage of great parks and museums that the DC area offers.
5. Communicating our calendars, so we can be on the same page of what is going on with our lives.
6. Guard our family time with each. Gift to us as a family is the gift of presence - NUMBER ONE PRIORITY!
7. Continue to develop and build on our Family Virtues and Mission Statement (PUT INTO PRACTICE!) Virtues -Generosity (Give away of time and finances), Gratitude (Giving thanks and praise to God), Grace (Love and Forgiveness), Growth (Growth Spiritually, Emotionally, Mentally, Physically), Generational (Legacy)

GOALS FOR 2011 - NCC Kingstowne ENGAGE

Looking ahead to 2011...
“As God continues to pour out His blessings and as He continues to give us favor within the Kingstowne area and the surrounding communities, I want us to be intentional about ENGAGING by taking risks in 2011.” -Pastor Chris Jarrell
Sunday Morning Worship Experience - (Genesis Question #4: How are people experiencing Sunday mornings?) Are they fully connected to what is happening? Fully involved in service – I want people to be fully involved and ENGAGED in our Sunday morning worship experience and not just be a casual observer. I want to see people respond to what is happening during our services…it’s more than just coming to be comfortable, it’s that they will truly experience what God is doing.
Ministries - (Genesis Question #2: Are we intentional about each person stepping out and plugging into ministries to use their gifts and talents for God’s purposes within the NCC Sunday morning worship experience?) Get people to actively commit to being involved in our Sunday morning ministries. I want people to ENGAGE by using their gifts and talents to bless others. My hope is to get at least 5 new people added and committed to all of our ministries at Kingstowne by the end of 2011 and that new ministries will start in 2011.
Small Groups - (Genesis Question 3: How are we growing as disciples and as a community?) Developing more leaders, so we can continue to provide more small group opportunities in the Kingstowne area. I want us to have 15-20 Small Group Opportunities by the end of 2011. It is my prayer and hope that people get ENGAGED in discipleship and in the lives of others.
Outreaches - (Genesis Question 4: Are we being noticed so we can make God’s name known and bring His fame in what we do?) Continue to push with outreaches, developing new opportunities and continue to make current outreaches BIGGER and BETTER. We want to have a GREATER impact in our community. I want the Kingstowne location to be ENGAGED in a greater capacity in our community.
Isaiah 26:8
Yes, LORD, walking in the way of your laws, we wait for you; your name and renown are the desire of our hearts.
Going ALL IN:
PLAYING IT SAFE IS RISKY: As we seek to ENGAGE at NCC Kingstowne, I want us to grab hold of this core value and run with. As we look back on all of our wins and as we move forward to 2011 let us begin taking some greater risks.
MINISTRY TEAMS:
Let’s be strategic and give everyone an opportunity to serve here at NCC Kingstowne. Let’s help others raise their level of risk by inviting them to be a part of a team.
SMALL GROUPS:
This is where discipleship happens. Take a risk and lead a group. Take a risk and join a group. Risk taking is what cultivates community. Our level of growth as a location will come from our level of growth as in small groups at NCC Kingstowne.
OUTREACH:
Let’s raise our level of risk and get involved with our community on the ground level.

Stay United/Stay a Family:
As a prisoner for the Lord, then, I urge you to live a life worthy of the calling you have received. Be completely humble and gentle; be patient, bearing with one another in love. Make every effort to keep the unity of the Spirit through the bond of peace. There is one body and one Spirit—just as you were called to one hope when you were called— one Lord, one faith, one baptism; one God and Father of all, who is over all and through all and in all. Ephesian 4:1-6
Goals for 2011 - Keep It Sweet & Simple
1. Keep moving forward, growing and maturing - spiritually, mentally, physically and emotionally. I feel like in all these areas in 2010 - I have made significant strides in and I going to keep going in that momentum.
Spiritually - I have grown deeper in 2010...I will continue in that in 2011 with continual study in God's Word, Serving and Generosity - three things that stretch me and deepens my faith.
Mentally - Continue to read, 2010 I read my first fiction book since high school. Continue to grow myself in 2011, mentally through reading and gaining knowledge and wisdom from other voices.
Physically - Continue with morning workouts and stay physically in shape. 2010 I got into the best shape of my life, I will continue that pattern in 2011.
Emotionally - Emotional wellness comes from stability in a consistent prayer life and maintaining stability with character and attitudes. In 2011, I will continue to grow in my prayer times and keep my attitudes in check and stay grounded in the peace of God.
All these things work together. I will continue to develop all these areas in 2011. I believe these things are the foundation of everything else that will follow in 2011.
2. Keep my priorities my priorities and not compromise - with Lora and Torin and potential child number 2 in 2011. Family is more of the priority. For me, presence is the greatest gift I can give them...for me, I will NOT sacrifice my family on the altar of ministry. For me, my family is who I have after it all said and done.
I have seen too many friends in ministry and outside of ministry who have lost family and with that they have lost everything else.
My priorities are as follows - God (my faith and all I do is based off my relationship and desire to follow Christ more closely), Family (My wife and then my child(ren), my Calling (ministry to people).
3. Keep running and nurturing my dreams - I still have some life dreams I want to see achieved sooner rather than later that goes hand and hand with my calling. I believe these dreams are God inspired ideas and they need to be nurtured.
I will keep going after those dreams in 2011 and I will see them fulfilled soon!
That is it! My goals for 2011---Simple and Sweet---oh yeah---it takes work but achievable. If I achieve these goals I will be a much better person in January 1, 2012 than I am on January 1, 2011. I can also be more effective in what God has called me to do.
My encouragement to you keep your goals simple and sweet...they don't have to be elaborate, get back to the foundations.
HAPPY NEW YEAR! MUCH LOVE AND PEACE TO YOU!
Chris
A little inspiration for 2011 as you are considering your goals.

Planning Getaway This Weekend
I wanted to post a few thoughts about Lora and my getaway as we plan for 2011. Both looking as a family and personally. I really want this to be an intentional time and I also want it to be a time that is a mile marker in our marriage and in our family.
During our 17 years of marriage this the first time we are doing this and this will be an annual thing that may coincide with our Anniversary (Nov. 20) in the future. We are looking forward to getting away for 24 hours to Inner Harbor of Baltimore. It will be an intense 24 hours with focus but also some fun :-) and good food Cheesecake Factory. We will probably do most of our planning at the Barnes & Noble (this is an awesome B&N) so we can be surrounded by lots of great books with amazing ideas.
